1. Information We Collect

We collect information to facilitate the core functionality of the App: helping you connect with your crew in the real world.

A. Location Data (The Core Feature)

• Precise Location: We collect your device's precise geolocation (GPS, WiFi, and cellular data) to display your position on the map to your authorized friends.
• Background Location: If you grant the "Always Allow" or "Allow all the time" permission, we collect location data even when the App is closed or not in use. This enables features like getting alerts when a friend is nearby or ensuring your location is up-to-date when you arrive at a Meetup.
• Movement Data: We may collect sensor data (accelerometer, gyroscope) to detect if you are driving, walking, or stationary to update your status or pause updates for battery saving.

B. Personal Information

• Account Data: When you register via invite code, we may collect your name, phone number, email address, and profile photo.
• Contacts: With your permission, we may access your phone book to help you find friends already on SenkuMaps or to send invite codes/QR codes to your crew.

C. User-Generated Content (UGC)

• Map Activity: We collect data regarding "Spots" you drop, "Alerts" you post, and "Meetups" you create, including any photos, descriptions, or time-stamps associated with these activities.

D. Device and Usage Data

We automatically collect information about your device (model, OS version), IP address, and how you interact with the App (features used, time spent, crash logs).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected data for the following specific purposes:

• Live Map Services: To render your avatar on your friends' maps and update your location in real-time.
• Notifications: To send push notifications about Meetups, when friends are active, or relevant "Alerts" in your area.
• Service Optimization: To analyze usage trends and improve battery efficiency for background tracking.
• Safety & Security: To verify accounts via the invite system, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms and Conditions against stalking or harassment.

3. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your real-time location data to third parties.

A. With Your "Crew" (Friends)

• Your location, active status, battery level (optional), and movement speed are shared only with users you have explicitly accepted as friends or added to your trusted circle.
• Any "Spots" or "Alerts" you post are visible to your connected friends or the specific group associated with the map.

B. Service Providers

We may share anonymized or encrypted data with third-party vendors who perform services for us (e.g., cloud hosting via AWS/Google Cloud, map rendering via Mapbox/Google Maps, analytics providers).

C. Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order or subpoena).

4. Your Controls: Ghost Mode & Privacy Settings

We believe you should decide when you are visible.

Ghost Mode

You can enable "Ghost Mode" at any time. When enabled:

• Frozen: Your friends see your last known location, but it does not update.
• Hidden: You disappear from the map entirely for specific friends or everyone.

Note: While Ghost Mode hides you from friends, the App may still process your location locally on your device or strictly for server-side connection maintenance depending on your background settings.

Background Location Toggle

You can disable background location tracking in your device settings. If disabled, your location will only update when you have the App open on your screen.

Push Notifications

You can opt-out of receiving notifications via your device settings.

5. Data Retention

• Location History: We generally do not store a history of your precise breadcrumb trails indefinitely. Location data is primarily transient (overwritten by the newest location update).
• Spots and Meetups: Content you post remains on the service until you delete it or the "Meetup" expires.
• Account Deletion: If you delete your account, your personal data and friend connections are removed from our active databases.

6. Security of Your Information

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. This includes encryption of data in transit and at rest. However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

7. Children's Privacy

SenkuMaps is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under age 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information.

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, request deletion of your data, and opt-out of the sale of personal data (though we do not sell your data).

9. GDPR Rights (EEA/UK Users)

If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data, restrict processing, and object to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date and, in the case of material changes regarding location data, providing a prominent notice within the App.
